Bower Bird Blues
If you build it, they will come. This is the philosophy of the male satin bowerbird. In his chosen patch of Australian rainforest, he diligently works on his masterpiece -- the bower that he hopes will attract females. But his success with them is elusive and even worse are the neighbors. An echidna rifles through his bower looking for ants to eat, and a scrub turkey's incubation mound threatens to overwhelm his construction site. The final insult comes from the bowerbird next door -- who somehow manages to have the best of everything!
