Sir David Attenborough, one of the world's foremost naturalists and television presenters, has been making successful wildlife programs for decades. Starting each new project with a list of questions, Sir David and his staff garner enormous amounts of research before embarking on worldwide sojourns to collect footage.

A hearty adventurer, Sir David has famously rappelled down a rainforest tree, entered a termite's nest, and let himself be attacked by military ants. Nothing quite so dramatic was called for in "Song of the Earth." Here we see the filmmaker on a boat in the Caribbean explaining his quest for animals that engage in song and their link to the genesis and function of human melody.
