Dolphins, probably the most acoustically sophisticated animals in the world, produce calls that are more straightforward than musical. Dolphins exhibit two main types of vocalizations: clicks and whistles. The clicks are used in echolocation, the same kind of radar bats use to find food. Each dolphin has a "signature whistle," a series of whistles that distinguishes an individual, providing a way for dolphins to recognize and bond with others.
