The consequences of war: A photographer’s perspective

VII photojournalist Ashley Gilbertson, who has covered the Iraq War since 2003, discusses the effects of war on soldiers and their families, as well as on himself as a photographer.

“After almost 10 years, these pictures start to meld into one,” Gilbertson says. “We have a responsibility to find a new way to look at those stories.”

Gilbertson and other VII photographers will be screening at LOOK3 Photo Festival in Charlottesville, Va., on June 9-11.
