What if…? Jeff Greenfield’s alternate histories of America

From our “what if…” desk, veteran journalist and novelist Jeff Greenfield has observed that history doesn’t turn on a dime — “It turns on a plugged nickel.” And that’s the premise of his latest book, “Then Everything Changed.”

In it, Greenfield envisions three separate and very plausible scenarios from history that could have happened — and then plays out the domino effect each one of them would have had on the political landscape.  In a conversation with our resident historian, Jon Meacham, Greenfield shared stories from his book of alternate histories.
