VII photographer Franco Pagetti’s “Carcel de Mujeres,” or “Women’s Prison” in English, is a story that takes place in Bogotá, Cundinamarca, Colombia. Pagetti was granted access to a prison housing women who had been sentenced or were awaiting trial on charges ranging from drug trafficking, rebellion, participation in a guerrilla faction, and an array of other crimes. In certain areas of the prison, known as “patios,” the women are allowed to have their children with them. Pagetti’s audio slideshow offers an intimate look at the daily lives of these female prisoners.
