Photo: Little penguin, big drama

Number 459 made a run for it! A three-month-old African penguin at a zoo in Münster, Germany, escaped its environment, took a walk in a winter wonderland and ended up in the lion enclosure. Visitors spotted the baby bird waddling through no-man’s land and alerted the zookeepers, who lured the little intruder out with a trail of herring a day later. Normally the zoo assigns numbers to its penguins, but this latest adventure has earned the little bird the name “Leona.” As for the lions, they slept through the entire drama.
