Looking home

This series of poignant portraits by VII photographer Adam Ferguson offers an  intimate glimpse of U.S. troops stationed in Afghanistan as they use social networking websites and programs such as Skype to communicate with friends and family at home.

Radical Islam, like so many other movements, is gripped by the human impulse to build empires of wealth and power. I wish some learned philosopher could explain this reality and persuade them to relent.
Everyone has a right to their beliefs, but no right to impose them by force. That also applies to economic  systems. Free enterprise and technology are good, but too much of any good things turns them bad. Bureaucratic socialism failed in every nation that tried it, so apparently, social democracy is the best we have to live in peace and balance.
