Deadlocks and headlocks: Steve Brodner on the wrestling match that is Congress

Wrestling and politics have a lot in common. In wrestling, two competitors attempt to throw or immobilize each other by grappling, using maneuvers and techniques to gain an advantage. These days, politics is pretty much the same thing, only the loser isn’t just an overwhelmed rival: the losers can be ordinary citizens. Take, for example, the battle over whether or not to raise the debt ceiling.

Editorial cartoonist Steve Brodner provides animated commentary on the inability of Congress and the Obama administration to come to terms on a deficit deal, illustrating how Washington’s gridlock is more like a headlock.
