Fixing government: Christine Quinn on getting government out of small businesses’ way

Government officials often tout small businesses as the backbone of the American economy. But Christine Quinn, the Speaker of the New York City Council, says that small business owners often see government as an obstruction. “If they think we are in their way, not lifting them up, that’s an enormous problem,” she says. To remedy the relationship between the two, Quinn offers an example of how the New York City government helped streamline the arduous inspection process for new local restaurants.
