For multimedia artist and writer Paul D. Miller aka DJ Spooky, investing in the arts is one way to help Americans unleash their imagination during tough economic times. Miller cites President Franklin D. Roosevelt’s Works Progress Administration as an example of how federally funded arts programs helped Depression-era Americans reimagine ideas of progress — ideas that proved to be vital to this country’s subsequent cultural and economic renaissance.
