The Stage
As people learn to deal with their death in more personal ways, many are asking not just to die on their own terms, but on their own time. In this spirit, Oregon passed the Death with Dignity Act in 1997 legalizing for the first time the use of physician-assisted suicide for people who qualify. We asked Drs. Quill and Byock to spend some time discussing this issue. The debate that follows is a transcript of their conversation. qualify.
