Q&A with Hannah Cooke
Hannah Cooke
Q: How did it feel to returning home?

A: The whole time I was there I was wishing I would leave. I didn't want to be there. But I knew when I would get home I would want to go back. And that's what happened. I do miss it and I do miss being able to go on a horse and milking a cow. I know that sounds kind of funny. People in the audience may say, "Ooh, a cow," but I think it's really cool that I got to do that. I won't be having many other chances to do that again.

Q: What did you learn about yourself on the ranch?

A: Being in Texas for a long time, we found out we could do stuff that we didn't think we could. That made me realize I'm not a clone to all the other people. I actually have a personality. I can do stuff that I didn't even know I could do, and it really completely sets a different tone in your life.

Q: What did you learn about your sisters?

A: I learned a lot about Vienna. At first she didn't want to go. She didn't want to do anything for a while. She didn't like the chores. But then she grew up out there. She had her birthday out there. She turned 20 and I saw her becoming more of an adult than a kid. She now hikes and she just loves to be adventurous, which she never did. She was very shy and didn't want to do anything before, but now she's more outgoing.

Q: You brought back some of the ranch animals?

A: We brought Howie back and unintentionally we brought the two cats back, Beauty and Ginger. We grew too attached to them, so we couldn't leave them behind. We have three additional pets to our family of four cats and two dogs. Howie misses Texas because he can't run and go off and chase bunnies. Sometimes I see him in the backyard just running back and forth to get exercise. The two cats are lovey-dovey as usual. They lay on each other. Ginger's actually pregnant and she might have babies soon. It's cool to have them here because it's like a little memory that's alive that's running through your house.

Q: What do you want people to take away from the show?

A: I think when the viewers watch this they will see our family going through a struggle we've never gone through before. We got upset during that show at some points. I want them to know that we are a kind family and that we did our best to get through this together and to do something we've never done before.
