While it is noteworthy that Sen. Clinton is attempting to reach out to faith-based people by quoting the Bible to validate her health care plan for poor children, my question to her is - Why stop at healthcare why not include education as well?
The (scripture) verse is also applicable to another basic need - education. Sen. Clinton consistently opposes legislation that would allow parents - especially poor parents - to make educational choices as to send their children to schools would that would most benefit their children - be it a private or a public shchool. It seems somewhat disingenuous of Sen. Clinton to care so much about healthcare for poor people but to neglect poor parents' rights to send their children to a school that they seem best for their children.
I believe that regardless of the basis of any ones attempt to provide healthcare for children it is a extension of American basic moral and ethical values. Children can not hold a job and need good health to grow into productive adults. Often the message is lost in attacking the messenger. Healthcare is a big issue and needs change and I would be more accepting of a message from a person who incorporates the values of our country than one who does not. "But that is just me"! More often than not judging how the message is presented takes away from the issue itself. Take that same context and apply it to a police officer who must do direct conflict for a child's protection. Would you rather she/he as a police officer say please to the sex offender? No, I would rather they get the child to safety how ever they can. Then worry about if they hurt someone's feelings in the process. Healthcare is an issue of great importance in this election. No harm to apply American values to it.
