Worse than a waste of time, it would be couter-productive. The place to elect a social conservative is within the two major parties. Then if the best social conservative candidate does not win the nomination, values voters have to get behind the "next best choice" among those nominated. Running an independent candidacy will only draw votes away from the "second best choice" and ensure the election of the candidate that is most averse to social conservatism.
