I think that the media and the pollsters are doing a disservice to the public process by fixating on "race" in this political contest. After every vote, the media breaks down the results by race: "black women...white men...hispanic college graduates..." I think that people should be allowed to make their decisions independent of racial considerations, and they should be able to have their votes counted and reported independent of their own race and their opinions of race. When I cast my vote, I am doing so as a thinking person, a member of a community, a member of a large and complicated planet, and not merely as a "white" or "black" or "hispanic" or "asian" man or woman.
