I am in that demographic group that tithes and attends church at least twice a week. I am aghast at the pernicious notion of a theocracy in the United States. We should thank God for the First Amendment. It saves us from religious warfare in the United States by removing the hope of religious domination and the fear of religious persecution from the electoral process. Even if one can be certain your doctrine will prevail, theocracy always, always degenerates into stagnation, corruption, oppression and eventually persecution. Any politician who promises or suggests that he can, will or should turn the power of the government to propagating some version of faith is a charlatan. Judge your religious leaders and yourself by your faith. But render unto Ceasar the things that are Ceasar's. Judge the candidates by their secular policies.
