n response to the major earthquake that has devastated Haiti, the Unitarian Universalist Service Committee, in collaboration with the Unitarian Universalist Association, has launched a joint earthquake relief fund to help survivors.

UUSC, an international human rights organization based in Cambridge, Mass., will identify and channel relief funds to grassroots and colleague organizations that are best able to provide immediate aid to survivors, as well as to meet longer-term needs of recovery.

Donations may be made online by visiting http://www.uusc.org/haitiearthquake, by phone at 800-766-5236, or by regular mail to UUSC, UUSC/UUA Haiti Earthquake Relief Fund, P.O. Box 844001, Boston, MA 02284-4001.

CRWRC-Christian Reformed World Relief Committee is responding to both Haiti and Chile disasters, as mentioined above –as well to many more around the globe. To-date, our constituency has given over $7.2M to Haiti disaster response alone…and we expect significant matching funds from both the Canadian government and European partners. See http://www.crwrc.org for more information about these responses, how to give –or other aspects of CRWRC’s international development efforts.

Mennonite Central Committee (MCC) located in Akron PA has been in Haiti for fifty years and has been involved in earthquake relief in Haiti from the first day forward. MCC is notable for having some of the lowest overhead of any of the benevolent organizations: your contributions go where it is most needed . Sontact http:/www.mcc.org for more infromation or to make a contribution.

Salesian Missions has been working in Haiti since 1936 and provided food to 25,000 children in Port-au-Prince before the earthquake in addition to the schools it operated for hundreds of children. The search for survivors has ended, but Salesian Missions is desperately working to and care for those who are homeless and suffering, with special attention to the 20,000 children in the area it already served. A vast Salesian Missions compound in the Cite Soleil (which consisted of schools, trade shops, housing, orphanages, youth centers, feeding programs and administrative offices) was almost completely destroyed. 200 students and staff were killed in the rubble. Buildings destroyed include those at ENAM, the renowned National School of Arts & Trades, where a vast majority of the deaths took place. Kitchens that fed 25,000 of the city’s poorest children daily have been affected. Reconstruction efforts have begun but more assistance is needed: Photos:http://picasaweb.google.com/Neillsalesianmissions/TheHaitiEmergencyReliefAndReconstructionDatabase?feat=directlink%20%3Cfront%3E#5464906330270149074
