Church of England Votes against Female Bishops

The current Archbishop of Canterbury, Rowan Williams, and his newly named successor, Justin Welby, both expressed their disappointment. Some British politicians have suggested the church should lose its tax-exempt status for violating anti-discrimination laws. Church leaders meeting this week called resolving the issue of female bishops a “matter of urgency.”
