Prayers and remembrances were held around the world this week to mark the 70th anniversary of D-Day in World War II. On June 6th, 1944, allied forces invaded the French coast of Normandy, an event that ultimately led to the defeat of Nazi Germany. Thousands of allied troops died in what was the largest seaborne invasion in history.
