A Catholic bishop in Germany accused of lavish spending has been officially relieved of his duties. This week Pope Francis accepted the resignation of the bishop of Limburg, Franz-Peter Tebarz-van Elst, known to some as “Bishop Bling-Bling.” He got in trouble after he was reported to have spent about $43 million renovating his residence and other buildings, a sum that included a $20,000 bathtub, $480,000 walk-in closets, and a $1 million garden.
