Another School Shooting Heightens Gun Control Debate

barack-obama-HEAD-smThe national debate over gun control rages on after an Oregon high school shooting that left two dead earlier this week. It is one of several recent high-profile shootings. Last week a gunman opened fire at Seattle Pacific University, a Christian school, killing a student and wounding several others. The activist group Everytown for Gun Safety says 74 shootings have taken place on school grounds since the 2012 Sandy Hook massacre, an average of nearly one a week. President Obama called on the nation to examine its conscience in the wake of the violence:

President Obama: “The country has to do some soul searching about this. This is becoming the norm and we take it for granted in ways that as a parent, are terrifying to me.”
