Two Orthodox archbishops were kidnapped in Syria this week, caught up in the country’s civil war. They reportedly were seized on the road to the northern city of Aleppo, where pro-government and rebel forces have been engaged in heavy fighting. In Rome, Pope Francis prayed for the release of the two archbishops and called again for an end to the violence in Syria.
