“When Muslims want to respectfully dispose of a text of the Qur’an that is no longer usable, we will burn it,” says Imam Jihad Turk, director of religious affairs at the Islamic Center of Southern California.

As Congress debates the budget, religious conservatives say the debt is a moral issue, and an interfaith coalition has launched a campaign to reduce military spending and prevent cuts for the poor.

For more than 200 years there has been a chaplain in both the U.S. House and the U.S. Senate.The current Senate chaplain is the Reverend Barry Black, the first African American and the first Seventh-day Adventist in the position. Kim Lawton reports.

Many churches encourage their young people to memorize Scripture. In the Free Methodist Church, they do it through a friendly competition called "Bible Quizzing." This year marks the 50th anniversary of Bible Quizzing in the evangelical denomination. Last week, 123 teams from across the nation competed in the Church's National Bible Quizzing Final Tournament.
