BOB ABERNETHY: The market for books on religion and spirituality has remained bullish all year, and among the best-sellers, books aimed at the moral and spiritual education of children. Hoping to take advantage of the popularity, many publishers are releasing creative new products for kids this holiday season. We decided to take a look.

It's a pretty good bet that books about religion and spirituality will be on many holiday shopping lists this year. Experts say baby boomers especially have been buying these books in record numbers, both for themselves and for their children and grandchildren. Many are looking for help in teaching kids about religion.

MEG ATHA (Politics and Prose): I all the time see people, parents and grandparents, sitting in the section in rocking chairs, on the floor, sitting with their child, reading it out loud and sort of making sure the material is appropriate before they purchase it.

From Jewish Lights Publishing, A PRAYER FOR THE EARTH, a story of Naama, Noah's wife. Jewish Lights has also released the popular Interfaith series that's been endorsed by Jewish, Protestant, and Catholic religious leaders. For parents who want to teach values and spirituality without an explicit religious message, there's the CHICKEN SOUP FOR LITTLE SOULS series, based on the best-selling books for adults. And of course, there are dozens of other holiday titles.

AMY JOHNSON (Parent): I look for books that tell Bible stories that are just more traditional, religious kinds of books, and then I look for other things that are just books that teach good morals.

ABERNETHY: Book analysts say the quality among all these books and videos can vary widely, but many parents are grateful for the options.
