Sotomayor Sworn in: What Are Your Thoughts?

Sonia Sotomayor was sworn in as the U.S. Supreme Court’s 111th justice on Saturday. It’s the first time that the ceremony has been televised. Share your thoughts on the court’s first Latina and third woman justice.

    As a Bronx Bred Black Puerto Rican women living in the soundview section of the bronx, as a symbol of pride she is, and all the accolades are well deserved, but this confirmation is not a step into dealing with issues plauging PUerto Rican youth here and on the island of Puerto Rico, increasing rates of unemployment, police brutality, lack of access to higher education, and an almost 40% drop out rates, her seat on the court does not change the fundementals of what working class Latina women and men, but nonetheless it is a pride-full moment, but Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor is not an elected official or public policy maker or community organizer, we need to keep looking for those people who can become effective, social justice leaders
