YouTube: ‘Helping You Report the News’

June 29th, 2009, byStaff

There are those YouTube members who upload video. Then there are those YouTube members who upload video that also happens to be news (you know who you are).

For all of those citizen journalists in the crowd, YouTube launched its new YouTube Reporters’ Center project Monday to help aspiring reporters learn tips from seasoned journalism professionals.

The list of journalists and reporters who contributed to the project is impressive, with videos from Bob Woodward, Katie Couric, Arianna Huffington and, of course, Tavis Smiley, to name a few.

To see Tavis and his colleagues share their thoughts on how to report the news, visit http://youtube.com/reporterscenter.

I am interviewing a pop culture author soon, and will take what I have learned from all the great interviewers in the past, as well as the present. Each one has an uncanny ability to appear really engaged in conversation, stopping and listening to the person they are interviewing, and even laughing at the appropriate things that we all laugh at. People I love to watch interview are Ellen DeGeneres and also Tavis Smiley. I don’t watch to often, but when I do, I observe eye contact and body language. It says it all. Bad interviewers lack the ability to seem interested, and I think that can be the biggest downfall not just for the person they are interviewing, but also the audience who will fall asleep, or worse, get mad at the interviewer. Tell me, what is the point of engaging then?

Great advice. I’d rather have a conversation, not an interview. Listen generously. I like that term. Listen from the heart. Works in the therapist’s office, too. The movie Stand is a good one.

I think this is a little bit too much, just let it happen is cool,we dont want to be journalist,we are just doing what comes naturally raw and naked eye witness, vibes, why change all that,,walk good..
