“We’ve seen 18 percent more children in poverty since the year 2000 to the year 2009 because of the recession,” says Annie E. Casey Foundation President and CEO Patrick McCarthy on a recent show. “That means we’ve got almost 15 million children living below the poverty line in this country as of 2009.”
