I am a certified nurse-midwife in the US, with 14 years of maternal-child health experience. I am also an Indo-American. I have started the Professional Midwifery Development Project, India, with the goal to bring sustainable, professional midwifery care to rural India as soon possible. This will be no easy task, so I need everyone's help: experts in MCH in India, midwifery educators, government entities, investors, technical advisors, and entrepreneurs. Please help me achieve my vision of safe and dignifying maternity and newborn care and childbirth for the millions of India's poor women! I believe India will not even get close to achieving MDG #5 without private-public partnership.

Maternal mortality is closely linked to the access to care and access to reproductive health and family planning.Addressing the unmet need of methods of contraception and improving Prenatal care by training skilled staff may help in reduction of maternal mortality and infant mortality rate.
