Well done. I'm thinking of using this show in fall in a finance course I teach. It's an upside to finance that has currently shown us mostly a very dark side. Of course, the upside requires cooperation between nations to create new incentives. Keeping track of carbon offsets will be very difficult to implement. It's a start and the enthusiasm of Dorjee could be contagious for undergraduates.

Not sure if I am carbon entrepeneur since my site is more about providing information about the carbon offset / carbon credit market. www.CarbonOffsetREVIEW.com . Hopefully you can find the carbon offset provider or project of your choice.
Regards,
-Ollie D.

Dear Earl P.,
Your response seems to lack the understanding of what profit is. What you call "profit" is a reality that is part of every human being's life and global economy. "Profit" is the vital engine and energy of today's economy in every country of the world, communist, socialist or capitalist. It is what brings every nation's people the bread and water to their tables. Those very corporations and pollutors that you talk about are economic communities (that include everyone from a corporation to an individual and its nation's government) are all part of the cycle of life and growth on this planet. If we didn't have industries, corporations and businesses, we would not be the same developed world that we are today. So when we look at the beauty of a child's face we must understand that he or she is part of this human race and its economic life cycle with its vital aspect - profit.
Profit is also what will make major changes and difference in creating responsible economic communities, whose profits will include investing in reforestation and environmental protection. Those very profits from environmental protection by those economic communities, which we are all part of, are the ones that will clean the water, air and our environment for the good of generations to come.
So the next time you buy anything, think of where your profit came from to give you that ability and who did the profit went to from that sale, and how it will be invested by you and the seller.

Very informative about the new carbon economy that also illustrates how a young man accomplished his vision...though relentless effort.

If I understand correctly,we're talking about profiting from
the pollution emitted today by offsetting the pollution with
the planting of trees sometime in the future. In the meantime
the pollution emmited today will still contaminate the lungs of people who will not profit one bit from this illogical
scheme. The very idea of pollution "credits" is a criminal
mentality approach to enviromental issues. These so called
investors are'nt investing in people that inhabite this planet. There's no altruism involved. The profit motive is the only concern.
Why do we need to have a profit motive before we'll even consider re-forestation.If you need a motivation to save this
planet just look in the faces of the children aleady born and like trees will grow to be productive citizens with a right to clean air and water.
The industrial polluters of the world cannot be relied upon
to save this planet. How much can the monied interests eat?How much can they drink? How much more do they need?
We must'nt allow the corporations and industry to co-op
enviromental issues.

approach to profit at the expense of others

Thank you for helping keep global warming at the forefront of global issues requiring urgent attention and solutions. As a United States citizen, I support my country's full participation in helping develop carbon mitigation alternatives and encouraging international partnership agreements.

Excellent. A key phrase was "...biologists are talking to bankers..." Clearly shows the dicotomy between those just trying to feed their families and the effort to make changes that will affect the global climate. This piece illustrates the economics, politics, social issues, and technology that most come together to make changes in the world.
