In August 1998, a truck bomb struck the U.S. Embassy in Dar es-Salaam, killing at least 11 people and injuring close to 100. This attack occurred within minutes of another suicide truck bombing in Nairobi, Kenya. Authorities suspect al Qaeda in the attacks.
