if i understand it right, the filmmaker enjoyed an education at the best film school in cuba (arguably even the best documentary school in latin america), filmed with a cuban crew and had the opportunity of a wider range of protagonists opening their homes and hearts for his endavour. that’s why i don’t understand why andrew lang naturally tried a way to show his movie in cuba but is only afterwards “thinking about doing a longer version”. i am a filmmaker from argentina and i would that as form of respect. for too long people from the north have come and taken the images they took of people from the south and built their careers on them without showing more than verbal gratitude. i hope mr, lang is not one of them.

These notes tell an amazing story. If the film is half as compelling as the notes, it should make a huge contribution to understanding part of Cuba’s story.
