To Have and Have Not

Interactive Challenge

The Event: In cities all over the "Rust Belt," thousands of workers have gathered in protests. In March and April 2002, 30,000 laid-off workers from 20 factories in Liaoyang province took taking part in demonstrations where they shouted "Workers want to eat, workers want a job!" In Fusun, 4,000 to 10,000 workers blocked the main road of the city and gathered outside the management office to demand better unemployment terms.

The Question: The Liaoyang and Fusun workers came from what two Chinese industries, among the hardest-hit by the WTO reforms?
