The Circus: In the center of town, Grozny's circus lies in ruins, a haunting reminder of the devastation that has left no aspect of city life untouched. Once known as the Pearl of the Caucasus for its wide boulevards, impressive plazas and beautiful parks, Grozny boasted several theaters, concert halls, and museums. Today, all of these cultural institutions have been destroyed or are barely functioning.
