Hunger

Hunger

Two brothers, members of the Dinka tribe, eat porridge rations at a Sudanese feeding center run by Médecins Sans Frontièrs. Relief agencies estimate that 150 people are dying every day in Sudan, due to famine, poor sanitation and lack of shelter. According to Worldwatch Institute, an estimated 1.1 billion people are malnourished. Many of these live in rural areas, where they have insufficient land to grow food. Often, such people live in countries that have food surpluses. But lack of efficient distribution prevents food from getting where it's needed. Even when food is present, insufficient income may prevent the hungry from buying it.
