Bajaur, Mohmand, Khyber, Orakzai, Kurram, North and South Waziristan
A tribal zone, within the geographic boundary of the North-West Frontier Province, that includes the Khyber Pass, the mountain passage used by invaders as a route to India from Central Asia. It separates the settled areas of the NWFP from Pakistan's border with Afghanistan and has recently gained worldwide notoriety due to reports that members of Al Qaeda, and even Osama bin Laden, may have found sanctuary here after the U.S.-led war against Afghanistan.
