Future for Lebanon

47 minutes | RealPlayer and Windows Media formats

"Future for Lebanon" explores political change in the oldest democracy in the Middle East. After the assassination of former Prime Minister Rafik Hariri, up to a million Lebanese took to the streets, driving out Syrian troops after 29 years of occupation. WIDE ANGLE goes behind the scenes during the recent parliamentary elections to examine whether a country of 18 different ethnic groups can overcome a history of religion- and clan-based politics and finally achieve true independence.
