The Taliban Versus Women in Pakistan

March 9, 2011

Welcome to Women, War & Peace’s podcast series with our host, Amy Costello. Each week, Amy will be talking to people who have responded creatively to the plight of women living in conflict zones.

Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy is an award-winning film producer and journalist based in Pakistan, where she was born and raised. Her acclaimed film, Children of the Taliban, takes viewers to areas of the country off-limits to outsiders, to show how the Taliban turns poor boys into terrorists and suicide bombers. Obaid-Chinoy explains how the Taliban have targeted women’s rights and education to keep an entire generation of girls in Pakistan away from schools.
