Biography: Martin Hall

Martin Hall, a historical archaeologist, is Dean of Higher Education Development at the University of Cape Town, South Africa. He has studied early farming settlement in southern Africa and the archaeology of colonial settlement in the 17th and 18th centuries. His books include Archaeology Africa and The Changing Past: Farmers, Kings and Traders in Southern Africa, 200-1860. Dr. Hall is currently writing a book on the archaeology of colonialism, scheduled to be published in the year 2000. He is interested in media and commercial representation of history, and is working on Internet resources on this subject.
