Gauge, Morticing

Gauge, Morticing

Morticing gauges use two independently adjustable teeth to mark out the dimensions of a mortice and the accompanying tenon in one go. In a pinch, when you do not have a plow plane at hand, a morticing gauge can also lay out and precut long grooves, such as for drawer bottoms, which you then finish with a chisel.
