Get your morning's business news from The Wall Street Journal Online. Yes, access costs money, but it's worth every penny and then some. Not only is the Journal an absolute necessity for anyone who wants to know what's driving the markets, it's also one of the best-written daily U.S. newspapers, general, financial or otherwise. FT.com, the Internet child of The Financial Times, does well in offering a view of business around the world.
Yahoo! Finance has one of the most complete and accessible all-around financial portals, particularly for information about a specific stock or index. Use other sites for specialized types of data, but no other free site brings together the basics -- quotes, news, charts, research, and fundamental data -- like Yahoo!
When business news breaks during the day, CBS Marketwatch usually is among the first sites to report it. Comprehensive site, though sometimes the cluttered design makes it hard to quickly find something. Bloomberg.com also works well for breaking news.
