Like the title of their latest album, Trick Pony is On a Mission. It's a mission to play music -their kind of music-and have fun doing it. And by the awards they've racked up in the last two years, it seems they've accomplished it!

When the band's self-titled debut album was released in 2001, the album's first single "Pour Me" shot straight to the top of the charts. Trick Pony capped the year with a gold record, an American Music Award for "Favorite New Country Artist" and as the Academy of Country Music's "Top New Vocal Group."

Trick Pony may be new to fame, but they have been touring and gaining fans around the globe since the late 1990's. Guitarist Keith Burns came from Joe Diffie's band, Ira Dean was late of Tanya Tucker's ensemble, and Heidi Newfield, well, she was simply one heck of a singer and harp player. Their voices blended, their personalities clicked, and they perfected their high-energy road show.

On a Mission is Trick Pony's follow-up album, and it's just as hot as the first one. On it, Willie Nelson joins the band for a kicking version of "Whiskey River."

Heidi and Ira both grew up in small towns, which is reflected in the biographical song "Fast Horse." Heidi may have been eager to leave town for a faster pace when she was younger, but she says, "now I'm working my butt off so I can get back there some day because I miss it."

Farm Aid 2003 is Trick Pony's Farm Aid debut. They are sure to put on a rockin' performance!
