Sisters Ann and Nancy Wilson burst on the rock music scene in
1978, blazing musical trails in every way. As two of the first women
“frontmen” in rock, in addition to supplying amazing
vocals and harmonies, they both wrote and played on all their early
hits. “Barracuda,” “Magic Man,” “Dreamboat
Annie,” “Straight On,” “Even It Up, “Kick
It Out,” “Dogs and Butterflies,” “Mistral
Wind” and so many more of these early Heart treasures reflected
their personal, spiritual, professional, and political odysseys.
After two decades of recording and performing, and more than 30
million records sold, the sisters took a break in the ‘90’s
to return to the Pacific Northwest and pursue individual interests.
Each started a family. Ann is now the mother of Marie (13) and Dustin
(7). Nancy and husband, Cameron Crowe, are parents to twins Billy
and Curtis (5). Ann performed with several ensemble companies (including
the theatrical “Teatro Zinzanni” and the “Tribute
to Abbey Road” world tour) while Nancy honed her scoring and
producing chops on movies directed by Cameron Crowe (“Singles,”
“Jerry Maguire,” “Almost Famous,” “Vanilla
Sky,” and 2005 release “Elizabethtown”). Nancy
released a solo project (“Live at McCabes”) and toured
on her own, a lifelong goal.
With the turn of the millennium, the Wilson sisters reunited as
Heart again, with three U.S. tours, a live concert album (“Heart
Alive in Seattle”). After being awarded a Lifetime Achievement
Award by the Northwest Chapter of the Grammy Foundation, they returned
to serious songwriting, crafting the critically acclaimed (and Nancy
Wilson produced) “JUPITERS DARLING,” a multi-textured,
musical masterpiece of 16 songs that beautifully showcase Heart’s
unique vocal and instrumental talents.
In 2005, while Nancy completes the music for “Elizabethtown,”
Heart songs are being disseminated by other artists (“Crazy
on You” in the new Eminem “Encore” CD; “Straight
On” by Gretchen Wilson and the Muzik Mafia on tour and on
CMT) and also showcased on television, "Heart & Wynonna" on Crossroads/CMT, "Crazy On You" on the season finale of
the L-Word/Showtime, and Heart's 2-hour concert special on Soundstage/PBS.
Always supportive of charitable causes, Heart recently performed
on the NW Tsunami Benefit Concert with a reassembled Alice in Chains.
They will also be performing for the Northwest School with fellow
Seattle friends, Pearl Jam.
Later in the year, Nancy will be featured on the “Elizabethtown”
soundtrack album; Ann will complete her first solo project, and
Sony Music will be releasing two compilations of remastered Heart
classics. More on these exciting projects will follow as more information
becomes available, as the Wilson sisters continue pioneering the
reach and role of their musical boundaries.
