Your Life, Your Money features compelling, real-life stories of young people facing and overcoming intense economic challenges. This one-hour special will empower our youth with sound, simple financial advice - raising awareness on banking, credit, investments, budgeting, insurance, self-employment, and more.
Loaded with practical, engaging information, Your Life, Your Money has a full team of personal finance experts - including, best-selling author Beth Kobliner and syndicated columnist Michelle Singletary. The show also provides celebrity insights from hip-hop icon Russell Simmons and R&B pop singer D. Wood.
Beyond the program, Your Life, Your Money will host a number of national outreach events to improve money management skills for young adults. Teachers and parents can also find tools and resources to help create their own activities and lesson plans.
WNED-TV is a leading producer of single-topic documentary programming for national PBS broadcast. In recent years, it has produced programs on a variety of topics - including, The Marines, a 90-minute cultural view of the Marine Corps; The Adirondacks, a two-hour HD special on the largest park in the lower 48 states; Niagara Falls, an HD documentary on the breathtaking water feature; Windows to the Sea, an HD special about America's leading aquariums; and America's Houses of Worship, which explores the significance, grandeur, and magnificence of 13 of the most sacred spaces in the United States.
Along with Your Life, Your Money, WNED has two other major national documentary programs in production for PBS: The War of 1812, a two-hour HD special looking at the motive and impact of this conflict; and Elbert Hubbard and the Roycrofters, a one-hour program focusing on the important role of the Roycroft Campus in East Aurora, during the Arts and Crafts Movement in America.
Since 1998, Working DogProductions has been creating innovative and entertaining TV for networks like HBO, National Geographic, PBS, A&E, Court TV and The History Channel. Its producers have worked on everything from investigative stories and celebrity profiles, to natural and human history.
Led by seven-time Emmy® winner, Tom Simon, Working Dog has built its reputation on compelling, character-driven story telling. As a filmmaker, executive producer, and television executive, Tom has been responsible for some of the world's top-rated documentary programs. In addition to the Emmys, his programs have received many other awards - including, a Dupont-Columbia Journalism Award and a Peabody Award.
Prior to founding Working Dog, Tom served ten years as executive producer and vice-president of programming and production for National Geographic Specials on PBS and National Geographic Explorer on TBS.
Recently, Working Dog has also worked on, The Adirondacks, a two-hour HD special on the largest park in the lower 48 states; Dealing Dogs, an investigative documentary for HBO's America Undercover series, which was nominated for two Emmys, including Best Documentary; and its follow-up, Death on a Factory Farm, which aired in March 2009 on HBO.
