Family looks like a variety of images and thoughts that we carry around in our hearts and minds. Its the people in the photos that we take in our home each year. Its a gathering at the end of a terrific day by the lake with some of our cousins. A surprise dinner with even more cousins. During these times Family looks like a Zoom party with our relatives and close friends from all around the country wishing my Mom a Happy 90th Birthday. Family looks like the people in a 50th anniversary celebration photo from over 40 years ago - reminding us of those who are no longer with us. Its pending time with my wonderful niece and nephew, who represent the fourth generation of the people in that same photo. In addition to biological ties, family also looks like the people we choose and who choose us: The group of artists I meet with twice a week to paint, draw and discuss art, politics, and whats going on in the world. Family looks like the friends I have known for decades who have welcomed me as part of their own families where we comfort each other in times of sadness & celebrate the joys of life. I cherish all of my Families. I am who I am because of them.
