I was raised to believe that a couples most lasting legacy was their children. In the Fall of 1974, two kids who had never met, but came from towns ten minutes apart in New Jersey, began college in N.H. Fast forward to Valentine’s Day senior year, and they became engaged. In June 1979, they married. Two children and careers later, in 2019, they celebrated their their fortieth wedding anniversary. The best anniversary gift was some text written by the children: “Thanks for being great parents.” We are now retired to NH, and enjoying the arrival of grandchildren.
