My parent(s) wanted me to…
My parent(s) wanted me to be selfless. Our home was open to all. It seems careless today, and even irresponsible on their part looking back at it. My parents took in shady characters that came in many forms. Ladies of the night, needing a change of clothing, or to freshen up their make up. Ex-cons needing a place to stay for a few weeks while they found work or so they claimed. My parents took in a child, who’s mother fell victim to the crack epidemic. They helped the elderly in our neighborhood who had no family to check in on them, and often had them over to celebrate what many consider family events or holiday gatherings. It was not unusual for us to have two or three what many would call outcast
