Family looks like protecting each other from germs. Stroke survivor protects wife, and wife protects stroke survivor. Because the stroke survivor is unable to be independent due to the disabling affects of the stroke, wife must stay healthy to maintain care giving abilities. Due to the wife's own co-morbidity of congestive heart failure, blood pressure and obesity, she must protect herself and him from germs so that she can continue to be his caregiver. It is necessary to stay home except for essentials so that the wife can take of him. Death would not matter to her if it were not for her spouse; but because of the needs of the spouse, she must protect herself in order to protect him. She stays home to not risk interaction with non-masked germs and doesn't understand the anger of those who refuse to wear it
