My life right now…
My life right now My heritage of Native American blood is also shared with ancestral lines of both the Burton and Suffern clans that trace back to Wales, Ireland and Scotland in the UK. But when the village of Suffern, founded by my maternal great-great-great grandfather, John Suffern, held a special celebration in 1960, the relatives who crossed the Atlantic to participate denied any association with their darker-skin American cousins. My extended family has experienced both renown and rejection—rejection resulting primarily because of our African and Native-American roots. No surprises there.
