Family looks like redefining your internalized biases to celebrate your children just as they are. When our daughter, Jordan, was born, her diagnosis of Cri Du Chat altered our entire life. We were told she would never walk or talk. Like so many parents, we believed our story of disability would be a sad one. But with the introduction of sign language, countless laps around the living room with a walker, and daily wig-clad dance parties, we learned there was nothing about Jordan that needed to be fixed. It is our joy to change the narrative, one celebratory day at a time.
